About me

I am an agricultural and applied economist with over five years of experience in international development and policy research across the Global South and Global North contexts. I have worked with leading research organizations, including the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), and the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF). I use mixed methods to translate data into insights that inform policy and development practice.

My expertise spans consumer and farmer behaviour analysis, preference and trade-off analysis, technology adoption, impact evaluation, evidence synthesis, production and efficiency analysis, gender analysis, youth inclusion, livestock and crop value chains, behavioural economics, climate adaptation, and agricultural and environmental policy analysis. My work is published in leading peer-reviewed journals.

I am completing my PhD in Agricultural Economics at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, University of Göttingen, Germany, where I have submitted my doctoral dissertation. I am also a doctoral researcher at ZALF, working within the Horizon Europe project “SUPPORT” in which my PhD research is embedded.

My doctoral research examines farmers’ preferences and the economic trade-offs associated with adopting sustainable crop protection practices, and how farmers’ behavioural orientations shape their adoption decisions. The research spans 10 European countries: Germany, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Romania, Spain, Greece, and Switzerland. Ultimately, my work aims to generate evidence that informs policies to reduce pesticide use and associated risks while promoting sustainable crop protection practices and maintaining farm profitability.

I also hold a Master of Science in Agricultural and Applied Economics from the University of Nairobi, Kenya.
